Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofaan’ gets new premiere date

Amazon Prime Video has revealed the new release date of Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofaan’. The eagerly awaited sports drama is set for a premiere on July 16. The film was earlier scheduled for May 21 but was postponed due to the second wave of pandemic.

The sports drama marks the return of the revered pair of Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, whose previous 2013 outing, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was a great success.

‘Toofaan’ chronicles the life of a criminal outlaw, Ajju (played by Akhtar), from the streets of Dongri, who out of his sheer passion, determination and resilience rises to become a national boxing champion.

The film, with boxing as a backdrop, showcases how his meeting with kind and empathetic, Ananya (Mrunal Thakur,) turns life-altering as he discovers his passion for the sport and conquers all odds to accomplish his dream.

‘Toofaan’ is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Farhan Akhtar, and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur, and Hussain Dalal in pivotal roles, besides, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Darshan Kumaar, and Vijay Raaz.
