‘The Lord of the Rings’ series to premiere on September 2

Amazon Studios unveiled the first look of its highly anticipated series ‘The Lord of The Rings’. It will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, 2022, followed by a new weekly episode.

‘The Lord of The Rings’ series first look offers a peek into the epic project. The extreme wide shot shows a striking visual with a character dressed in white standing within the frame.

The series will be based on the works of author J.R.R. Tolkien, and will take place before the events of ‘The Lord of The Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’.

The series has been led and executive produced by J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. Other executive producers include Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado, co-executive producer Wayne Che Yip, director Charlotte Brändström, and producer Christopher Newman. 

The ensemble cast for this project includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, and Sir Lenny Henry.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, said: “The journey begins September 2, 2022, with the premiere of our original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ series on Prime Video. I can’t express enough just how excited we all are to take our global audience on a new and epic journey through Middle earth.”

Showrunners Payne & McKay, while sharing their experience, said: “As Bilbo says, ‘Now I think I am quite ready to go on another journey.’ Living and breathing Middle-earth these many months has been the adventure of a lifetime. We cannot wait for fans to have the chance to do so as well.”

The shooting for the first season of The Lord of The Rings series was wrapped up in New Zealand. The series is all set to release in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
