Oscar Isaac to star in and as Disney+’s ‘Moon Knight’

Marvel officially announced that Oscar Isaac will play the lead in Disney+’s upcoming ‘Moon Knight’ series, based on an existing character in Marvel Comics. The series will stream as a part of Phase Four of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel shared this news by posting a picture of Isaac with posters of Moon Knight in the background. The caption reads: “WE ARE MOONKNIGHT”, ‘we’ referring to the multiple personalities of the character.

Moon Knight or Mark Spector is a former CIA operative possessed by Egyptian Moon God Khonshu. While this gives him superhero capabilities, it also leaves him with multiple personalities- including a rich playboy, a taxi driver, and a masked vigilante.

Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy) is the writer and creator of the series, which will be directed by Mohamed Diab (Clash) and indie directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Synchronic).

Since October, 2020, there had been rumours of Isaac’s involvement in the project, and the news is officially confirmed seven months later. Alongside Isaac, Ethan Hawke is reported to play the villain against Moon Knight.

Moon Knight is expected to be a six-episode series that will debut on Disney+ in 2022.
