One Mic Stand: Prime Video brings together the unlikeliest of comedians

Amazon Prime Video India’s upcoming show One Mic Stand brings together five mentors who will teach stand up comedy to Vishal Dadlani, Taapsee Pannu, Bhuvan Bam, Richa Chadha and Dr. Shashi Tharoor.

While the five open mic contestants try their hand at comedy, they will be mentored by ex-members of the comedic group All India Bakchod (AIB) Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya.

The list of mentors also includes East India Comedy’s (EIC) Angad Singh Ranyal and standup comedians Zakir Khan and Kunal Kamra.

The show will be hosted by EIC’s Sapan Verma.

One Mic Stand consists of five episodes. Each episode will be taken over by one celebrity’s performance and is all set to premiere on November 15.

Chadha is also part of Amazon Prime Video India’s popular show Inside Edge. Bam is also widely popular for his YouTube content.

However, One Mic Stand marks a debut for Dadlani, Pannu and Dr. Tharoor in the digital entertainment space.

The show’s host Verma said in a statement: “I think the idea of seeing your favourite people in a new vulnerable position is always endearing. Basically, I have got famous celebrities so that the show gets the views and top comedians to ensure the show is funny, so that I can just sit back and not do much.”

Amazon Prime Video India has also previously created two successful seasons of Comicstaan – a stand-up hunt that gives a boost to aspiring comedians.
