Anand Gandhi, who has previously worked on Ship of Theseus and acquired global recognition for his multi-award winning documentary, An Insignificant Man, is all set to explore the world of web series with his latest production, OK Computer.
Starring Radhika Apte and Vijay Varma in the lead, the web-series is being billed as a sci-fi comedy, a novel venture unlike anything seen before in the Indian landscape. Directed by Pooja Shetty and Neil Pagedar OK Computer will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar.
The official description of the show reads,
“OK Computer is a science-fiction comedy that will take the audience on a journey to a parallel world that is advanced and has never been experienced before at any level.”
Gandhi has said that the upcoming miniseries questions the nature of our relationship with Artificial Intelligence by infusing humour. Varma has also expressed enthusiasm regarding the project:
“OK Computer is a miniseries, but it’s grand. I play a police officer in the future. It is something that has never been attempted before in India.” The actor added that the show has elements of a comedy, science-fiction and a mockumentary.
Vijay Varma will be seen in the much-awaited second season of the hit web series, Mirzapur, later this month. Radhika Apte who was recently seen in the web-thriller Raat Akeli Hai opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui will also be seen in an adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’s Shantaram for Apple TV.
Also featuring Jackie Shroff and Rasika Dugal, OK Computer is expected to be released later this year.
