The Obamas’ list of Netflix projects has been announced

In 2018, former US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama announced their multiple-year production deal with Netflix through their production company, Higher Ground Productions.

This Tuesday, they revealed a list of several productions that include documentaries and a movie for the streaming service.

“Touching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights and much more, we believe each of these productions won’t just entertain, but will educate, connect and inspire us all,” said Barack Obama in a statement.

A few of it are: “Crip Camp”, a documentary about the origin of the disability rights movement; “American Factory”, a documentary about a Chinese billionaire which has already been premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The production house is also working on a film adaptation of
author David W. Blight’s Pulitzer Prize-winning biography, “Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom.”

Their list of series includes ‘Bloom’, which is about the fashion era in a post-World War II New York; an anthology series which will be an adaptation of the New York Times series called “Overlooked” and a series based on ‘The Fifth Risk: Undoing Democracy’, a book by Michael Lewis.

Michelle Obama has always been vocal about promoting a healthier lifestyle and clean eating especially for children thus, as a part of this initiative, a half-hour series for preschoolers called “Listen To Your Vegetables & Eat Your Parents” will also be released.

The dates for the various series and films have not been announced yet by the company.
