Nishabdham set for OTT release on Amazon Prime Video

Hemant Madhurkar’s Nishabdham is all set for an OTT release. Coming to Amazon Prime Video on October 2, initially the film was scheduled for a theatrical release, earlier this year in January. However, given the present circumstances and a pandemic that won’t be leaving us anytime soon, the film like its many predecessors this year has taken the OTT route.

Directed by Madhurkar, the film features an all-round cast with Anushka Shetty and R Madhavan in the lead roles. Hollywood actor Michael Madsen, known for his work with the director Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs), will also be seen playing a pivotal role in the film. This will mark his foray into Indian Cinema.

Nishabdham is a mystery thriller with Shetty playing role of a deaf and mute woman who finds herself in the middle of a criminal investigation. Interestingly, as the title suggests, Nishabdham was supposed to be a silent film with no dialogues. However, the idea was soon discarded in favor of a more viable alternative.

Speaking about her character, Shetty has said in a statement:

“Sakshi is a character very new to me compared to all that I have played so far. A character that pushed me out of my comfort zone, a character I’m glad it came my way. It was really nice to work with Madhavan again, always been an admirer of his work.”

Both Madhavan and Shetty have enthusiastically supported the OTT release.

“We are excited to bring to the audience the eagerly awaited thriller Nishabdham in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video,” the director has added.

The film also stars Anjali, Shalini Pandey, Subbaraju and Srinivas Avasarala in supporting roles.
