Director-Producer Nikkhil Advani is working on a new web project for Hotstar Specials titled Shekhawati.
The female-centric web series will be made under Advani’s banner, Emmay Entertainment and will be based in Rajasthan.
The web series will revolve around four women living in a joint family.
It will be similar to the 2015 Marathi family drama Rajwade And Sons which explored the story of four cousins who face several hardships while trying to strike a balance between family traditions and modern times.
The shooting for the Shekhawati has already begun and it is expected to release on the Indian streaming platform later this year.
The web series will feature popular actors Lara Dutta and Kritika Kamra in pivotal roles.
Dutta has previously worked in Hotstar’s 100. Kamra’s Amazon Prime series alongside Saif Ali Khan titled Tandav is yet to release.
Shekhawati will be directed by Gauravv K Chawla who made his debut with Bazaar starring Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte.
Advani’s Emmay Entertainment will also release web series on other streaming platforms. The list includes Amazon Prime‘s Mumbai Diaries featuring Konkana Sen Sharma and Hotstar’s Moghuls.
The release date for Shekhawati has not been announced yet.
