In efforts to widen their anime slate, Netflix has announced a lineup of new releases of animation series at the Anime Expo held in Los Angeles, for the third consecutive year.
The Expo – with IGN editor Laura Prudom as the moderator – had a creators’ panel which was comprised of LeSean Thomas (Cannon Busters, The Boondocks), Alvaro Rodriguez (Seis Manos, Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), Jay Oliva (Trese, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, The Flash) and Shuzo Shiota (Levius, Transformers Prime, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Lost in Oz).
There were a few big reveals that were announced: the premiere date for LeSean Thomas’ Cannon Busters next month, the voice stars set for VIZ Media & Powerhouse Animation’s Seis Manos, new images for Polygon Pictures’ Levius and the scoop on Filipino comic-book adaptation Trese from creator/director Oliva.
The announcement for Cannon Busters’ release date was made on NX’s Twitter by the creator, LeSean Thomas:

Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M’s best friend, the heir to a kingdom under siege.

Seis Manos centers on three orphaned martial arts warriors living in 1970s Mexico, who join forces with a DEA agent and a Mexican Federale to battle for justice after their beloved mentor is murdered on the streets of their tiny border town. It is slated to launch in Fall 2019. A preview for the show was showcased on Twitter by Viz Media:
There were also new images that were released at the Expo from upcoming anime series Levius, created by world renowned anime producers Polygon Pictures.
In another reveal of anime releases was Trese which is set in Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings. This anime series is based on the Philippine graphic novel by the same name, created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldissimo.
