New animated series Sharkdog coming to Netflix

Netflix has revealed details about a new animated series titled, Sharkdog coming to the platform, via a press release. The series is by Singaporean creator Jacinth Tan and this version is being made in collaboration with ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS).

VIS will also produce the episodes along with Singaporean based CGI animation studio One Animation.

According to the press release:

The series follows 10 year old Max and his best friend Sharkdog – half shark, half dog, all appetite. Blissfully unaware of his own strength, stealth and general sharkiness, Sharkdog often leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. But, like all good half-dogs, he’s Max’s BFF and Max is his.

Sharkdog is VIS’ first international animated series for Netflix. It is also the first animated series from Singapore belonging to the Nickelodeon’s Global Animated Shorts Program which is “designed to identify and develop long form original comedy-driven content for kids globally.”

The animated series will have 7 episodes of 20 minutes each and will premier on Netflix in 2021. This announcement comes two weeks after the streaming giant announced a brand new Angry Birds animated series also set to premier next year.
