The White Tiger secures two BAFTA nominations

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) recently announced the nominations for various categories. Netflix’s The White Tiger received two nominations in the best actor category and the best-adapted screenplay category.

Adarsh Gourav, who portrayed the role of Balram Halwai, has been nominated in the best actor category and competes against Riz Ahmed for Sound Of Metal, Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Mads Mikkelsen for Another Round, among others.

Gourav has also featured in acclaimed movies such as My Name is Khan, Mom and Rukh.

The film’s director, Ramin Bahrani, has also been nominated for the best-adapted screenplay. The movie, which is based on Aravind Adiga’s book by the same name, has been written and directed for the screen by Bahrani.

He is an Iranian-American director and has also received the prestigious 2009 Guggenheim Fellowship, known for 99 Homes and Fahrenheit 451.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who was a part of the film both as an actor and executive producer, took to Twitter to share the exciting news:

The White Tiger released worldwide on January 22 and is available on Netflix across various countries. It is the story of how a driver with no opportunities drives the wheel of his life and turns out to be a successful entrepreneur.

The BAFTAs will take place virtually this year on the 10th and 11th April.
