Netflix’s ‘You’ gets official release date for season 2

Netflix has been hyping up the Christmas cheer with all its upcoming holiday entertainment, but absolutely nothing will justify our thrill upon the latest announcement regarding Netflix series ‘You’.

The thriller-drama starring Gossip Girl alum, Penn Badgley, is coming back with its highly anticipated second season, and Netflix has dropped the official poster and the date of release.

Mark your calendars, because December 26, 2019, is going to be You day. Season 2 premiers right after Christmas, a perfect time for us to take a momentary hiatus from the festivities and holiday cheer to focus all our attention on Joe Goldberg.

Based on the book by Caroline Kepnes, Season 1 of You aired in September 2018, and was a smashing hit among viewers. Penn Badgley took to twitter to make the announcement, accompanied by a teaser for Season 2:

Joe Goldberg, a book-store manager, spends an unhealthy amount of time obsessing over and stalking grad-student and aspiring writer Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail) after their first meeting in his New York bookstore. Consequently, they go on to date (with a lot of manipulation on his part) and become an on/off couple.

Beck meets a cruel fate when Joe murders her in the final act of season 1 (because apparently, the only way to break up with her was to kill her). Season 2, however, will revolve around his drastic move from New York to Los Angeles, in an attempt to start over. But life has other things planned for him.

You would think the guy would have learned from his mistakes, but nope. Joe goes on to pursue Love Quinn (played by Victoria Pedretti from The Haunting of Hill House), a chef in-the-making, who he meets in the City of Angels.

Season 2 is based on Kepnes’ sequel, Hidden Bodies. Also part of the cast are James Scully (Heathers), who plays Love’s brother, Forty, and Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin), as a cunning teenager named Ellie, along with another familiar face that will only make a short comeback.

Make sure you add all your items to cart this boxing day, because this year, it’s going to be a wild one!
