Netflix anthology series ‘Social Distance’ in works by OITNB creators

Netflix has announced their new project – a new anthology series called Social Distance. The series will be put together by Orange Is The New Black (OITNB) creator Jenji Kohan.

The series will be produced from home and will be based on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diego Velasco will play director as he did earlier with an episode of OITNB as well. Velasco will direct all actors remotely. Likewise, the showrunner Hilary Weisman Graham will be running all procedures from home.

Graham also worked with Kohan on OITNB.

All actors will be filming themselves at home and the writers will helm the script from their homes to maintain social distance between cast and crew.

The producers of Social Distance said in a released statement:

We’ve been inspired to create an anthology series that tells stories about the current moment we are living through — the unique, personal, deeply human stories that illustrate how we are living apart, together. We are challenging ourselves to do something new: To create and produce virtually so that our cast and crew can stay healthy and safe.

The announcement of the series that revolves experience of living in the time of social distancing was made via Twitter:
