The Politician, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, revolves around the life of a politically ambitious man Payton Hobart. Hobart’s aim in life is to become the President of the United States and the first season of the show revolves around him running for the Student Body President of his school.

In the second season that is slated for release on June 19, we shall see him running for a seat in the New York Senate against the already ruling, Dede Standish.

Ben Platt, who plays the titular Payton Hobart in both the seasons of the show, was nominated for Best Actor (Television Series Musical or Comedy) in Golden Globe Awards 2020.

He is also one of the producers of the series alongside the creators themselves as well as Alexis Martin Woodall and Gwyneth Paltrow. Dede Standish, his electoral rival in the second series, will be played by Judith Light.

Netflix’s tryst with American political dramas is well-aged. With thrillers such as ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Designated Survivor’, it has etched its presence with premium political content.

With comedy, scandals and self-discoveries, it will be interesting to see how Season 2 of ‘The President’ churns out. And most importantly, who finally wins the elections!
