Netflix to stream Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back CGI remake

Netflix is all set to stream a CGI remake of the first Pokemon film ‘Mewtwo Strikes Back’. It is titled Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution.

The animated version first came of out in 1998 and holds a sense of nostalgia for all Pokemon fans who’ve now grown up.

The remake was originally released in Japan last July, but will now get a worldwide release through the streaming platform on Pokemon Day: February 27.

The official synopsis reads: “When researchers discover and exploit a fossil of the Mythical Pokémon Mew, they unleash a creation that goes against the very laws of nature.”

“The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo was intended for use as a tool of destruction. But as Mewtwo becomes aware of its own dubious origin, it begins to resent its human creators and seeks revenge…”

Senior vice president of international business at The Pokémon Company International Emily Arons stated that Netflix would be the perfect platform to reach kids and fans around the world on Pokemon day.
