Netflix announces reduced cost for plans in India starting from ₹ 149

Netflix has announced new lower-cost plans for users in India. The changes have been made for subscriptions on all devices.

The new costs:

  • Mobile – ₹149/month
  • Basic – ₹199/month
  • Standard – ₹ 499/month
  • Premium – ₹649/month

Earlier, the mobile plan cost ₹199, and was the lowest that the platform allowed. The basic plan has seen a sharp decrease, falling from ₹499 to ₹199.

The standard plan has reduced from ₹649 to ₹499 and the premium plan has gone down to ₹649 from ₹799.

The current Netflix users will automatically be upgraded to a higher plan. For instance, mobile users who paid ₹199 will now get the basic plan. Users can freely switch to a different plan.

This move by the platform indicates its intention to get more users in India with more affordable plans, as rivals such as Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar have always operated with lower subscription costs.
