Netflix’s ‘Outer Banks’ back in G-game with season 2

Netflix released the official teaser for the second instalment of the young adult web series, Outer Banks. It is set to premiere on the streamer on July 30.

Outer Banks is a coming-of-age adventure web series that initially premiered with a 10-episode first season back in 2020.

The story revolves around a teen boy, John B, who enlists the help of his three best friends, JJ, Pope and Kiara, to search for a fabled treasure tied to his father’s absence.

John B. (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) take up the lead roles. Stokes starred alongside fellow Pogues J.J. (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Kiara (Madison Bailey), all of whom are expected to return for season 2. Cline and Esten are also expected to reprise their roles, along with Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe) and Deion Smith (Kelce).

After Sarah’s father frames John B. for murder, the last episode of the first season ends on a dramatic cliffhanger, with Pogue crew member John B. and Sarah attempting to evade the cops as they flee the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Going by the teaser, J.J., Kiara, and Pope pay homage to their pals John B and Sarah, who they assume are dead after being caught in a violent storm at sea. The two did, however, survive and were picked up by a tanker on its way to the Bahamas, where Ward had hid the gold.

The new season will begin with John B and Sarah back in the Gold game while on the run in the Bahamas, where they are in over their heads as they acclimatize to their new surroundings. In the meantime, the stakes for Kiara, Pope, and J.J. are rising as new allies bring new foes into the race for the gold.

The official description for ‘Outer Banks’ reads:

“The $400M is still in the game, but will the uncovering of a new-found secret reunite the group for a fresh mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaits, but uncharted waters ahead mean our Pogues must do all they can to make it out alive.”
