Netflix’s ‘Never Have I Ever’ season 2 promises more teenage conundrums

Netflix has announced that ‘Never Have I Ever season 2’ will premiere on the platform on July 15. The comedy drama follows typical high-school struggles of an Indian-origin teenager Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) while growing up in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.

The family show became highly popular on the release, grossing a viewership of more than 40 million for its first season.

Going by the trailer of ‘Never Have I Ever’ season 2, it picks up from where it ended in season 1, with Devi still in a state of indecision regarding her choice of boyfriend.

One can see a board displaying pros and cons of dating Paxton (Darren Barnet) and Ben (Jaren Lewison) who both vie for her affections.

Though her friends Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) totally support Paxton, but Devi dabbles with the idea of dating both till any decision is made by her mother on their move to India.

However, the trailer reveals that her plans are ruffled by the entry of another “prettier and cooler” Indian girl, Aneesa (Megan Suri). Devi suffers an image crisis in her presence while dealing with an already messy love triangle situation and a bickering mother at home.

The new season will also explore the romantic interests of her mother and Nalini as well as her friends.

‘Never Have I Ever’ season 2, thus, seems to be another roller coaster with more romance, humour, and family drama thrown in.

The show is created by Mindy Kaling who serves as its executive producer along with co-creator, executive producer, and writer, Lang Sher.
