Netflix working on live-action adaptation of One Piece

Netflix has confirmed that it’s working on a live-action adaptation of the anime and manga phenomenon One Piece.

The platform has partnered with Tomorrow Studios and Shueisha to create the ten-episode series.

Original Creator of One Piece & Executive Producer Eiichiro Oda said in a statement: “I know I announced the production of this back in 2017, but these things take time! Preparations have been slowly progressing behind the scenes, and it seems that I can finally make the big announcement.

One Piece is one of the best-selling manga of all time with over 460 million copies being sold.

This is not Netflix’s first attempt at bringing high-profile anime to life. In 2017, it released a live-action film on the mega-popular anime and manga Death Note.

The film was panned by the critics and the platform will be hoping for a better portrayal this time around.
