‘Netflix is a Joke: The Festival’ has been announced for 2022. It will feature over 100 artists and several live shows, fan activations and special events hosted across 25 of Los Angeles’s most iconic venues.
The festival is set to celebrate the very best of comedy, past and present and will be held from 28 April to 8 May 2022. Select shows will be available for streaming in their entirety on Netflix at a later date.
Some of the comics set to appear at the festival include Amy Poehler, Conan O’Brien, Iliza Shlesinger, Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias, Chris Rock, Seth Rogen, Tina Fey and Pete Davidson.
Robbie Praw, Director, Stand-up and Comedy Formats, Netflix, stated: “We were so disappointed to postpone the event last spring and our line-up of comedians can’t wait to bring much-needed laughs to audiences in LA and around the world on Netflix. Netflix Is A Joke Festival is going to give comedy fans the opportunity to see the greats and discover new voices in one of the greatest cities in the world.”
For four nights live from the Orpheum, Rogen will curate and host evenings featuring his friends and Netflix stars reading scripts from his favourite tv shows and films. All proceeds will go to HFC (Hilarity for Charity), whose mission is to care for families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease, inspire the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates, and be leaders in brain health research and education.
Iglesias is set to create history by becoming the first-ever stand-up comedian to perform at Dodger stadium. The final night includes an event where some of today’s comics will pay tribute to stand-up pioneers George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Joan Rivers and Robin Williams.
