‘Griselda’ will also be executively produced by Doug Miro and Eric Newman (Narcos, Narcos: Mexico). Ingrid Escajeda (Justified, Empire) will act as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

Miro will also co-write the first episode with Escajeda and Andrés Baiz has been roped in to direct all six, 50-minute episodes.

‘Griselda’ will follow Griselda Blanco, the ruthless and cunning Colombian businesswoman who deftly navigated her family and business and created one of the most profitable drug cartels in history.

She was one of the most powerful drug kingpins in the world, becoming the first-ever billionaire female criminal, earning her the names “Black Widow”, “La Madrina”, “Cocaine Godmother”, and the “Queen of Narco-trafficking”.

Sofia Vergara (Modern Family and America’s Got Talent) stars in the titular role and serves as executive producer. She and Luis Balaguer founded the media company Latin World Entertainment (LWE), where the project had been in development for eight years. Netflix has now been brought in where Newman, Miro, Baiz, and Bernard, the creative team behind ‘Narcos’, have joined the team as the project materialises.
