In its latest venture into anime, Netflix has released the trailer for 7Seeds, a Netflix Originals adaptation of Yumi Tamura’s award-winning manga of the same name. After an initial delay of two months, the show is set to premiere on 28 June worldwide.
Netflix has described the show briefly as follows: “Natsu awakens to a post-apocalyptic world, only to learn that she has been cryogenically frozen as part of a program to ensure the survival of humanity.”
The 7Seeds anime is directed by Yukio Takahashi and features animation production by GONZO, famous for their previous work such as Afro Samurai.
Foreseeing the meteorite collision, the government comes up with a project ‘7 SEEDS‘ in which five teams of seven men and women are selected and are put under cryosleep. The anime follows what goes down once the cryogenic sleep cycle is over and humans awake to find a destroyed world and seek to survive as a species.
Netflix is rumoured to be venturing further into anime as a means to compete with Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+, which is likely to take back a portion of existing animated content on Netflix.
