Netflix to partner with Dan Levy for original content

Netflix has announced its partnering with Emmy award-winning writer/actor Dan Levy to create original content for the platform.

Levy’s first foray with the streaming platform will be an untitled rom-com feature project for which he will be writing, directing, producing as well as starring. Stacey Snider and Kate Fenske of the modern studio SISTER will join on as co-producers.

Levy’s claim to fame is the hit sitcom ‘Schitt’s Creek’ created by him and his father, acclaimed actor Eugene Levy. The show gained in popularity appearing on Netflix following its third season and has broken multiple records at the Emmys.

Speaking about the partnership, Dan Levy stated: “Netflix offered ‘Schitt’s Creek’ a second home at just the right time and opened the doors to a whole new audience for us. Watching the show thrive there has only enhanced my excitement about continuing to tell specific, meaningful stories with them in both tv and feature film. A full circle moment.”

Levy himself won Emmys for ‘Schitt’s Creek’ in four major categories (acting, directing, writing, producing), setting a record as the first individual to do so in a single year.

Levy’s work on the series will commence in July 2022.
