Netflix introduces cheaper mobile plan in India

Netflix has introduced a cheaper mobile plan for its users in India, adding to the three existing plans: basic, standard and premium.

It will cost users only ₹199/month for one screen, while the other plans range from ₹499/month to ₹799/month.

“Our members in India watch more on their mobiles than members anywhere else in the world- and they love to download our shows and films,” said Ajay Arora, Director, Product Innovation, Netflix in a statement.

He added: “We believe this new plan will make Netflix even more accessible and better suit people who like to watch on their smartphones and tablets—both on the go and at home.”

Netflix has already begun targeting the country in terms of content production.

It recently announced that it had signed five Indian shows with prominent names from Bollywood such as Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.

This came a few months after it had revealed its slate of ten Indian original films, again with names from Bollywood.

It also has two much-awaited shows in Sacred Games season 2 and another SRK production; Bard of Blood.
