Netflix announces brand-new Indonesian titles

Netflix has announced a collection of brand new series and films made-in-Indonesia at the at the Waktu Netflix Indonesia event. The seven new titles comprise sci-fi thrillers, comedies and period dramas, among others.

First among the announced titles is ‘The Big 4’, an action-comedy film by Timo Tjahjanto. It chronicles the story of a stringent female detective who teams up with a group of washed out assassins to investigate her father’s murder.

Following that is Indonesia’s first period-drama ‘Gadis Kretek’, set against the backdrop of the country’s cigarette industry in the 1960s.

Director Joko Anwar will helm a new sci-fi thriller ‘Nightmares and Daydreams’, which highlights ordinary people experiencing strange phenomena. The series will feature various storylines that will intersect with each other.

The rest of the titles include an unusual coming-of-age story ‘Dear David’, a sitcom ‘Klub Kecanduan Mantan’ (Ex-Addicts Club), and the latest installment of the ‘Nanti Kita Cerita tentang Hari Ini’ (One Day We’ll Talk About Today) universe titled ‘Hari Ini Akan Kita Ceritakan Nanti (Today We’ll Talk About That Day)’.

The list is concluded by a series from writer, director and comic Raditya Dika titled ‘Komedi Kacau’ (Comedy Chaos) and an untitled project with writer-director Ernest Prakasa.
