Netflix’s ‘Blood Red Sky’ pits vampire against hijackers

Netflix dropped the official teaser of its upcoming German-English movie ‘Blood Red Sky’. Initially titled ‘Transatlantic 473’, the movie will premiere on 23 July.

Blood Red Sky is about a woman with a mysterious illness, who must protect her son when their overnight flight gets hijacked by a group of terrorists. This demands her to unleash the monster she has kept hidden within herself.

With an eerie background score, the trailer establishes a chaotic in-flight situation, hijacked by the terrorists. Among the passengers are the protagonist and her son. Though she appears sick, but when she realises the risks involved, she hands over her son to another passenger and pledges to protect him. She reveals her true colours and transforms into a blood-sucking vampire.

Helmed and co-written by Peter Thorwarth, Blood Red Sky is based on a short film made by the director in 2015. The cast includes Peri Baumeister, Kais Setti, Alexander Scheer, Dominic Purcell, and Graham McTavish.

Blood Red Sky has been produced by Rat Pack Filmproduktion, a subsidiary of Constantin Film. The movie is finally getting a release after going through several delays in production due to the ongoing pandemic.

The teaser for the Blood Red Sky has been released as part of Netflix ‘Geeked Week’, a virtual fan event being celebrated from 7 July to 11 July.
