Netflix, Apple TV+ and more halt productions due to COVID-19

Netflix has stopped productions for all its originals amidst fears of Coronavirus for at least the next couple of weeks.

The decision was taken for all US and Canada based productions “due to government restrictions and health/safety precautions”.

Apple TV+, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu are other streaming platforms that have joined Netflix in either halting or delaying productions of various originals.

Fans might have to wait a bit longer for seasons of popular originals like Stranger Things (S4), The Witcher (S2) and Russian Doll (S2). The Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot starrer Red Notice has also come to a halt.

Johnson took to Instagram to express his concern and make the announcement:

The long list of shows affected by COVID-19 includes Disney+’s Marvel project The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which was being shot in Prague.

Simultaneously, production for over 70 shows of Warner Bros. was halted. Along with TV shows, certain theatrical releases such as A Quite Place 2, Fast 9 and No Time To Die will also face severe delays in their releases.

Earlier this month, CW’s Riverdale also announced a hiatus in production due of a possible scare on set.

However, between all these breaks, there is hope for some Disney fans as Disney+ has decided to release Frozen 2 earlier to keep the audiences entertained.
