Netflix announces renewal of ‘Sweet Tooth’ for season 2

Netflix has announced the renewal of its beloved series ‘Sweet Tooth’ for a second season, with a total of eight one-hour episodes.

Based on the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire, the official synopsis narrates the plotline of the show that takes place ten years after the “Great Crumble,” which saw the advent of animal-human hybrids and a terrible virus.

‘Sweet Tooth’ follows Gus (Christian Convery), a little kid who is part-deer, as he leaves his secluded yet safe home to travel to the outside world. Searching for answers about himself, he joins another hybrid family and unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Gus soon realises that “the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.”

Jim Mickle will return as Executive Producer, Writer, Director and Showrunner for season 2. Speaking of the renewal, he said:

“It’s been equally thrilling and heart-warming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey.”

Produced by Team Downey along with Warner Bros. Television, the show will see the return of executive producers Mickle, Team Downey’s Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr., and Amanda Burrell; and Linda Moran.

Team Downey’s Evan Moor will return as Producer, while Oanh Ly will join as co-executive Producer for season 2

‘Sweet Tooth’ also stars Adeel Akhtar (Dr Singh), Will Forte (Richard), Stefania LaVie Owen (Bear), Dania Ramirez (Aimee Eden), Aliza Vellani (Rani Singh), and Neil Sandilands (General Abbot); with James Brolin as the voice of the narrator.

‘Sweet Tooth’ season 1 premiered on June 4, 2021, and became a hit, with 60 million member households choosing to watch it in its first four weeks.
