Netflix announces sci-fi series ‘Katla’ from Iceland

Netflix released the trailer of a new sci-fi series ‘Katla’. It will premiere on the streaming platform on June 17.

The series is set in a small village Vik, which is dealing with mysterious happenings since the eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla.

The official description reads:

“One year after the violent eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla, the peace and tranquility in the small town of Vik has been dramatically disturbed. As people evacuate the area, mysterious elements, that has been deeply frozen into the glacier from prehistoric times, starts to emerge from the melting ice and causes consequences no one could ever foresee.”

The Icelandic show has been created by Sigurjón Kjartansson, Baltasar Kormákur and stars Guðrún Ýr Eyfjörð, Íris Tanja Flygenring and Ingvar Sigurdsson, among others.

Originally in Icelandic, the show is available with English subtitles for audience outside of Iceland.
