Netflix to release anime series Dragon’s Dogma in September

Netflix is set to release new anime series ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ on September 17. It’s adapted from the hit RPG video game of the same name launched by Capcom in 2012.

The official description for Dragon’s Dogma by the platform reads:

After more than 100 years, the dragon suddenly appeared and consumed the village. Ethan confronts the dragon to protect his beloved family, but his heart was taken by the dragon. Ethan, who seemed to have died, revives as the “Arisen” and embarks on a journey to regain his heart with Hannah, the Pawn who suddenly appeared in front of Ethan. While continuing the journey, Ethan will battle with monsters that embody the seven deadly sins, but each time he defeats the monster, he himself will also gradually lose his humanity.

Dragon’s Dogma isn’t Netflix’s first video-game adaptation. It earlier found success in the anime adaptation of the video-game series ‘Castlevania’, which has three seasons with a fourth on its way. The platform is also developing adaptations of other hit games such as Devil May Cry and Assassin’s Creed.

Additionally, an anime series titled ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ is being planned by Netflix, which will be in the same universe as the upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077.
