Netflix’s content slate for 2022 is stuffed with a bunch of shows categorised in a plethora of genres like horror, sci-fi and fantasy. The streamer recently shared exclusive details and also announced the dates of the Jan-Feb releases.
‘Vikings Valhalla’, a period drama set a hundred years after the end of the ‘Vikings’ is scheduled to release on February 25. Jeb Stuart serves as the showrunner and executive producer.
A Netflix original, ‘Archive 81’ debuts on January 14. It is a supernatural thriller loosely adapted from a homonymous podcast. It centres on an archivist, Dan who decides to change the fate of Melody Pendras, while restoring her damaged documentary tapes from 1994 that was made to investigate a cult. Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as its showrunner.
‘In From The Cold’ entailing the confrontation of a former Russian agent arrives on January 28. ‘Raising Dion’, a superhero series returns with its season 2 on February 1, which will see Dion manifesting his supernatural gifts.
‘Alice in Borderland’, a rendition of the popular manga of the same name by Haro Aso returns with a second season as well. It is a thriller series centred on a group of friends caught in a chain of life-threatening games, that they need to play to survive. It is written and directed by Shinsuke Sato, Yoshiki Watabe and Yasuko Kiramitsu.

Shows based on zombie apocalypses coming to Netflix are ‘All Of Us Are Dead’, animated ‘Army Of The Dead: Lost Vegas’ and ‘Resident Evil’.
‘Army of The Dead: Lost Vegas’ is an origin story of Scott and his team confronting the cause of the serious zombie outbreak. Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Wesley Coller serve as the executive producers while Meduzarts Animation Studio assists as the animation studio.
‘Resident Evil’, a live-action series looks into the dark secrets of the Umbrella Corporation after an outbreak occurs nearly three decades after the discovery of the T Virus. The show stars Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph and Paola Nuñez in pivotal roles.
The tale of the apparently normal city of Hawkins which connects to a dystopian parallel world controlled by otherworldly creatures proceeds with season 4 of the sci-fi series, ‘Stranger Things’, releasing in summer 2022.
‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ will serve as the origin story set ”in an elven world” roughly 1200 years before the events of ‘The Witcher’ and talk about the preceding conditions that led to the world of men, witchers and elves fusing into one. ‘The Witcher’ season 2 is scheduled to release on December 17 this year.
Netflix released the first look of ‘The Sandman’, a dark fantasy comic series from DC Comics written by Neil Gaiman. Gaiman, Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer serve as co-writers.
First Kill (vampire), animated shows like The Cuphead Show, Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Magic: The Gathering, The Midnight Club (horror) and The Umbrella Academy Season 3 are all arriving on Netflix next year.
