My Father’s Dragon is based on an illustrated 1948 kids’ book, written by Ruth Stiles Gannett.
The script is written by Pixar alum Meg LeFauve, who also wrote Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur.

The voiceover narration by Elmer’s unnamed daughter tells the story of a young Elmer who travels to the Wild Island and befriends a dragon named Boris. Along with Boris, he encounters ferocious beasts and discovers a mysterious place on his adventurous journey to save the Wild Island.
