Musical drama ‘Annette’ to release on Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video released the trailer of the upcoming movie titled ‘Annette’. It made its premiere at Cannes Film Festival on 6 July, and will be releasing on the streaming service on 20 August.

The trailer starts as a romance between a stand-up comedian Henry and a world-renowned opera singer Ann in the backdrop of Los Angeles. But the birth of their daughter Annette transforms the fates of the characters. The trailer is quite enigmatic with an aim to not give away too much to the viewers.

Annette is the sixth feature film directed by Leos Carax, and the first one in English. The script is written by Ron and Russell Mael of the band Sparks, who are also composing the original soundtrack for the movie. It is co-produced by Charles Gillibert and Paul-Dominique Win Vacharasinthu.

The movie stars Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard, Simon Helberg, Rebecca Dyson Smith in pivotal roles.

During its premiere on the opening night ceremony of the 74th Cannes Film Festival, Annette received a standing ovation which went on for 5 minutes.
