Shahrukh Khan has reportedly obtained the rights to Netflix’s hit Spanish series Money Heist and is set to turn it into a Bollywood film.
Money Heist has smashed all-time records for the streaming service after being viewed more than 34 million times, also becoming the most-watched non-English show ever.
Called La Casa de Papel in Spanish, the name was adjusted for English-speaking audiences to Money Heist back before season one was launched.
Created by Álex Pina, the show revolves around eight thieves who take hostages and lock themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain as a criminal mastermind, who calls him The Professor or ‘El Professor’, manipulates the police to carry out his plan.
The show’s cast includes Úrsula Corberó, Itziar Ituño, Álvaro Morte, Miguel Herrán, Paco Tous, Pedro Alonso, and Alba Flores.
According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan will produce the film but is not keen to act in it himself. The source said to the Mumbai Mirror: “SRK has always been open to involving other actors in his production ventures.”
Season 4 of the hit series is currently in production.
