Money Heist season 5 release dates announced

Netflix released the official teaser and date announcement for the much-awaited fifth season of the Spanish crime series, ‘Money Heist’. La Resistencia is coming back with Volume 1 on September 3 and Volume 2 on December 3.

The end of the heist is here for ‘La Casa De Papel’ or ‘Money Heist’, with the last instalment of the web series coming out on Netflix in two volumes across the year.

The penultimate season of the popular web series ended on a major cliffhanger, with Raquel reuniting with The Gang and Inspector Alicia uncovering the Professor’s hiding place and holding him at gunpoint while tuning to ‘Bella Ciao’.

To aid the suspense, the action-packed teaser features the Dali-masked gang inside the Bank of Spain putting up an armed fight that seemingly has transferred the project from a heist to war, all while the Professor (Sergio) tries to break free from the outside.

Further, the ‘Money Heist’ teaser showcases regular characters, Álvaro Morte (The Professor), Úrsula Corberó (Tokyo), Itziar Ituño (Lisbon), Najwa Nimri (Alicia Sierra), Pedro Alonso (Berlin), Miguel Herrán (Rio), Jaime Lorente (Denver), Esther Acebo (Stockholm) among others, who are set to reprise their roles.

Alex Pina, the show’s creator, revealed why the last season was split into two parts:

“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes. In Volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”
