Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’ series finds its directors

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim are set to direct the ‘Secret Invasion’ series for Disney+.

The directors, Thomas Bezucha, who helmed last year’s crime thriller Let Him Go, and Ali Selim, who worked on Hulu’s 9-11 drama The Looming Tower, are both well acclaimed in their field.

‘Secret Invasion’ series is based upon the 2008 comic book of the same name, which ran through an eight-issue limited series, published by Marvel Comics.

As part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Disney+ show based on the series plotline was confirmed in December 2020.

Plot details for the show are kept a secret, but according to the book, Skrulls, a race of shape-shifting aliens, had penetrated human civilisation and had long since supplanted several of Earth’s superheroes.

Written by Kyle Bradstreet, the show’s current cast includes Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. The latter two are reprising their roles as Nick Fury and Talos, an alien from the Skrulls species, from the Marvel movies.

The series is set to film in Europe later this year.
