MX Player’s ‘Chhatrasal’ eulogises unsung Indian hero

MX Player has released an official teaser for its magnum opus titled ‘Chhatrasal’, set to stream on the platform from July 29. The historical web series, set in 1700s, chronicles the life of unsung Indian warrior, Maharaja Chhatrasal, who raised the banner of revolt against the Mughals under the reigning Emperor Aurangzeb and established his kingdom in Bundelkhand.

‘Chhatrasal’ features Aurangzeb as a cruel and daunting emperor of the Indian subcontinent, but, not all can be intimidated. The just and kind ruler of Bundelkhund and heroic father of the famed Mastani, the second wife of the Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao I, stands up against the ruthless emperor and fights the tyranny of Mughal Empire.

The period drama has a stellar cast with Jitin Gulati (Inside Edge) in the titular role and Ashutosh Rana (last seen in film Pagglait) essaying the formidable Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

The teaser showcases Aurangzeb as a merciless ruler who is ready to remove anyone, who challenges his will, from his way. He believes himself to be the supreme ruler of the Indian subcontinent, and, rather menacingly, declares “there is no eye in the world, which can keep an eye on Aurangzeb.” The teaser ends with a quick view of the majestic protagonist ‘Chhatrasal’ with fires raging in the background.

The rest of star cast includes, Rudra Soni (who plays the young Chhatrasal), Manish Wadhwa, Anushka Luhar, Jaswinder Gardner, Piyali Munsi, Amit Lekhwani, among others.

‘Chhatrasal’ is directed by Anadii Chaturvedi, produced by Abhyudaya Grover with story and screenplay by Bhupesh Sharma.

The Hindi-language series will also release in Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi with English subtitles.
