ZEE5 announced a new thriller series titled, Mafia on Twitter. This is another addition to the genre for the platform after the recent Kaali 2, and Lalbazaar.
The web series is based on a scenario featuring the popular party game, Mafia, also known as Werewolf. It is a social deduction game, created by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986.
The story is set in the jungles of Jharkhand which is perfect for a suspense thriller. It follows a group of friends who meet after five years for a party. The scenario is full of fun and intimacy but also hatred and past betrayals.
As the group decides to play the game, their own secrets are in danger of being revealed in sync with the gameplay.
The official logline states:
Six college friends reunite for a bachelorette party in the jungles of Madhupur, where their horrifying past comes back to haunt them.
The almost minute long footage is full of twists, murders, drugs, and the events point towards sinister forces at play. What begins as a happy get together soon transcends into mayhem.
Mafia has been directed by Birsa Dasgupta, produced by Eskay Movies and created by Rohan Ghose and Aritra Sen. The web series will feature Namit Das, Tanmay Dhanania, Isha M Saha, Anindita Bose and Madhurima Roy.
It is set to premiere on July 10.
