Popular Indian actor and dancer Madhuri Dixit Nene is all set to make her digital debut with Netflix later this year. The debut will be in the form of a web series called The Heroine.
Produced by Karan Johar, the project is under Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment; a digital content company under his film and distribution company Dharma Entertainment.
The news was announced in December last year but there were no updates. After months of silence, sources say that the pre-production of the web-series has begun and filming is expected to start by the end of March.
Plot details are still blurry at this point. However, some reports place the story of the web series around a superstar who will migrate to a new country and her struggles based around the entire process. Other news sources are hinting towards the plot is on a prominent actress who will suffer a downfall in her life.
The Heroine will be directed and written by New York-based director Sri Rao. The series will feature an ensemble cast but the names involved are pretty hush-hush at this point considering Netflix is in the mix.
