YouTube icon Lilly Singh to embrace LGBTQ pride in short film

Lilly Singh, famous as Superwoman on YouTube, is set to star in ‘Proud Princess’, an upcoming animated musical short film. The movie is to stream on the new online platform, Pocket, dedicated to content for children.

The story of the film will follow a princess (Singh) who discovers various elements of her sexuality. She will come to embrace her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Albie Hecht, the chief content officer of Pocket stated, “The film will speak to LGBTQ identity issues for kids.” Singh spoke out about her bisexuality for the first time two years ago.

The digital platform Pocket aims to double its hosted content. The studio aims to produce 300 hours of original content by the end of 2021.

Singh stated about the various dimensions of her identity, “Throughout my life these have proven to be obstacles from time to time. But now I’m fully embracing them as my superpowers.”

The film is currently in pre-production and release date has not been announced yet.
