Laura Pausini to lead new Amazon Prime Video original

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed a new original film led by Laura Pausini. Written by Ivan Cotroneo and Monica Rametta, it will be based on an original idea by Pausini and will be directed by Cotroneo, and produced by Endemol Shine Italy.

Through this project, Pausini will debut into the world of cinema with a film that revolves around her and her story. Inventing a new genre, the film will unveil her true soul to the audience via glimpses of her private and public life.

One of the most prestigious Italian cinema directors, Ivan Cotroneo, will shape the Queen of Italian Pop’s narrative and bring her to the limelight through her first-ever feature film. Gherardo Gossi will serve as the Director of Photography.

In a statement, Pausini said:

“In February 2020, I met Amazon Studios and during one of our meetings I realised there was a story I had never told that was important to me and that I now wanted to share. I am happy they immediately supported my artistic idea with enthusiasm.”

Pausini recently collaborated with songwriter Daine Warren for the song ‘Io Sien’ which won Best Original Song in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globes and also earned her a nomination at the Academy Awards for Best Original Song, making her the first Italian woman to achieve this feat.

“Shortly before the Golden Globe victory, I started working with an Italian author and director that I really respect, and our collaboration generated this madness I am preparing to face with great dedication and that I am sure will amaze even those who think they know me well!” added Pausini.

The untitled project will be exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video in 2022.
