Netflix’s ‘Kingdom: Ashin of the North’ to premiere in 2021

Kingdom: Ashin of the North, will be the spinoff to popular Korean series, Kingdom, on Netflix

Netflix just confirmed the release of Kingdom: Ashin of the North starring Gianna Jun. It will be a bonus season for fans of the original show, Kingdom.

The plot will be a backstory about the mysterious character Lee Chang’s group encountered on their journey north to discover the origins of the infected.

At the end of season 2, audiences were left intrigued upon Jun’s appearance as Ashin. In this eagerly anticipated bonus story, Jun as Ashin, will unveil the mystery behind her identity.

Some characters and cast from the main series will also retain their roles in the new series. Among the ones confirmed to star again is Park Byung-eun, who made a lasting impression in season two as the head of the Royal Commandery Min Chi-rok.

Kim Eun-hee will direct the series who was also the screenwriter for both seasons of the original. He will be accompanied by the series director, Kim Seong-hun.
