Audience for regional web entertainment has been steadily growing in India. And Zee5 has been catering to them effectively. They are back with an original Bangla thriller series titled Kark Rogue. It stars Chitrangada Chakraborty, Indraneil Sengupta and Arya Dasgupta.
Based Indranil Sanyal’s novel Karkat Kranti, the story targets the illegal anti-cancer drug trials within the society and their dire impact on patients and whole medical community. The official description reads, “A serial killer hidden amongst a billion people is harder to discover than diagnosing a deadly disease. Get ready to watch a dangerous edge-of-the-seat medical thriller Karkat Rogue.”
“The edgy medical thriller will see me in the role of Beas who is a forensic surgeon. After she gets cured from cancer, she joins work. It is then that she unearths the malpractices happening at work. What happens next is what the web-series will unveil” revealed Chakraborty to the media.
Karkat Rogue has been directed by Utsav Mukherjee and also stars Rajesh Sharma, Jayant Kripalani, Sudip Sarkar, Chandreyee Ghosh, June Malia, Rana Basu Thakur and Priyanka Sarkar.
“This is a serious series. This is a mystery thriller. Most protagonists in Bengali films and web-series are journalists, doctors or works in advertising agencies. But we have a forensic surgeon here.
“Chitrangada and I went to the morgue to understand about the nuances of their work. It was like a workshop for us. I wanted to see how the forensic surgeons behaved after going to home from work. It was a great experience shooting the web-series” said Mukherjee.
The 8 episode series has been produced by Fatfish Entertainment and is set to premier on 10 January 2020.
