‘Jolt’ marks Kate Beckinsale’s thrilling return to action

Amazon Prime Video recently announced that action film ‘Jolt’ will stream on the platform from July 23. The thriller will be headlined by Kate Beckinsale who plays Lindy — a feisty woman on a vengeful rampage out to avenge her murdered lover.

Going by the ‘Jolt’ trailer, Lindy, a ravishing and cynically humorous woman, has a secret neurological condition that makes her snap anytime and the only way to lead normal life is by a special shock therapy that helps her keep her aggression and violent temperament on a leash.

When an explosion in a building leads to her lover’s death, her impulsivity and hyper-aggressive personality comes to fore. However, she must channel it right so that her quest for revenge against her lover’s murderers does not end up in frustration.

The trailer showcases some sensational, high-power action by Beckinsale triggered by violent outbursts and hostile confrontations of her character with her adversaries.

Beckinsale, whose upcoming films include, ‘El Tonto’ and ‘Prisoner’s Daughter’, is no newcomer to the action thriller genre. She played Selene in the ‘Underworld’ franchise and was last seen in the Amazon Original series ‘The Widow’.

The riveting drama has a huge starcast besides the lead with Bobby Cannavale, Jai Courtney, Laverne Cox, David Bradley, Ori Pfeffer, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci in pivotal roles.

‘Jolt’ is directed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria) and scripted by first time screenwriter, Scott Wascha.
