Jennifer Lopez inks multi-year production deal with Netflix

Pop singer and actor Jennifer Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican Productions, has signed a deal with Netflix under which it will create feature films, television series and unscripted content for the platform while extending support to diverse talent.

The multi-year first look deal will give a fillip to Lopez’s production company which the star co-owns with production partners Benny Medina and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (President of Nuyorican Productions).

Through this production deal, the talented ‘Hustler’ star is looking to come up with unique and distinctive entertainment by emphasizing on projects that support “diverse female actors, writers and filmmakers”.

The banner is already involved in developing two Netflix projects — ‘The Mother’ (scheduled to release in 2022) and ‘The Cipher’.

Sharing her excitement over the deal, Lopez stated that their company is focused on futuristic content creation that defies the conventional norms.

She also added that their company wishes to take their productions directly to their audience through this deal with Netflix, as live streaming has dissolved the boundaries and limits of the past, making art and entertainment accessible to millions across the globe.

Netflix head of global films, Scott Stuber, expressed his elation on the collaboration with the singing sensation which as per him is anticipated to yield “impactful” stories, that the platform eagerly awaits to stream.
