Israeli sensation Fauda will get Indian remake

Immensely popular Israeli Netflix web series Fauda will get an Indian remake through native content creation studio Applause Entertainment.

Fauda revolves around Doron (Lior Raz), a commander in the Israel Defence Forces’ Mista’arvim unit, and his team as they hunt down terrorists who threaten their country.

Created by Raz and Avi Issacharoff, the cast includes Itzik Cohen, Neta Garty, Rona-Lee Shim’on, Boaz Konforty, and more.

Applause Entertainment’s official statement on the Indian remake reads:

“Israeli drama series Fauda (meaning ‘Chaos’ in Arabic) is said to be one of the best shows to be made in a foreign language. And now, Applause Entertainment, the content studio from the Aditya Birla Group, has announced the Indian adaptation of the award-winning series developed by Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz. Fauda has garnered a lot of praise internationally, with a perfect score of 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. The Indian version promises to highlight the issue of Indo-Pak relations, and deconstruct historical conflicts to offer a new perspective.”

Applause is known for creating Indian versions of western hits such as Hotstar’s The Office, Hostages, Criminal Justice and Amazon Prime Video’s Mind The Malhotras (La Famiglia).

Apart from these, it has recently created originals like Mannphodganj Ki Binny for MX Player and Hasmukh for Netflix.
