‘Hungama 2’ set to take digital route

‘Hungama 2’ gears up for an OTT release owing to the ongoing second wave of the pandemic. The movie was earlier scheduled to open in theatres on 14 August. It will reportedly stream on Disney+ Hotstar.

Hungama 2 is a sequel to the 2003 comedy movie ‘Hungama’ directed by Priyadarshan. The movie starred Akshaye Khanna, Rimi Sen, Aftab Shivdasani, and Paresh Rawal, among others.

Priyadarshan is back with directing the sequel, featuring Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan, and Pranitha Subhash in major roles. The movie is produced by Ratan Jain, Chetan Jain, Ganesh Jain, and Armaan Ventures.

With no surety of when the theatres across the country will reopen, Ratan Jain said in an official statement: “Hungama 2 is a lighthearted film meant to be enjoyed across all age groups, and we feel it will entertain the audiences and bring some cheer in these trying times.” He added “We will release the film on a digital platform this year and movie lovers can enjoy the laugh riot at the comfort of their homes.”

The shooting of Hungama 2 was wrapped earlier this year. The makers are currently in talks with a major streaming platform and a release date is expected to be announced soon.
