‘How I Met Your Father’ to star Hilary Duff in the lead

Written and produced by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (This Is Us), ‘How I Met Your Father’ is a sequel to the original series ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Hulu has announced Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) to play the lead role of Sophie.

Previously, CBS had presented the pilot of ‘How I Met Your Dad’ in 2014, which did not work out. After seven years, Hulu has now ordered the 10-episode web series ‘How I Met Your Father’ that will be executively produced by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas (How I Met Your Mother).

The web series will follow Sophie, as she shares her story with her son. Set in the year 2021, the show will feature Sophie and her group of friends as they figure out their lives and try to fall in love in the modern world.

‘How I Met Your Father’ will also be produced by Hilary Duff and co-executively produced by Adam Londy. Bays and Thomas said in a statement that they are lucky “to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own incredible story to tell”.

The release date and other cast members of the Hulu Original is yet to be announced.
