Hostages season 2 to premiere in May according to Sudhir Mishra

Despite the lock-down situation India is facing because of the Covid-19 pandemic, filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has assured audiences that season 2 of Hostages will be out by May end.

The Hotstar (now Disney+ Hotstar) special web series is an official adaptation of an Israeli show of the same name. Talking about season 2, Mishra said:

The edit of all the episodes are done. The background music is being done. We are a little slow because we can’t meet, but things are happening. We are trying to adjust to this new way of working. I think the second season will come by May end.

Season 1 of Hostages starred Ronit Roy, Tisca Chopra, Parvin Dabas, Aashim Gulati and Mohan Kapoor, among others. It was released on 31 May 2019. The official description reads:

Surgeon Dr. Mira Anand (Tisca Chopra) is scheduled to perform a routine operation on the chief minister, but the night before the procedure, her family is taken hostage and she is ordered to assassinate her unwitting patient in order to save her family, forcing her to make a decision.

Synopsis

The 10 episode web series made its television debut this week on Star Plus.

Mishra added that this may be an opportunity to analyse tv audience in terms of how accepting it has become of content that is not exaggerated and loud storytelling.

He also said:

Maybe this will change the way we narrate stories on TV. In other places, TV had evolved tremendously before OTT came.
