Netflix to showcase post WW2 Hollywood in new series

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming limited series, Hollywood created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.

Murphy is famous for also creating American Horror Story, Scream Queen and Eat Pray Love.

The stellar cast of the web series includes David Corenswet (The Politician), Darren Criss (Glee), Jeremy Pope, Laura Harrier, Samara Weaving, Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story), Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men), Patti LuPone (American Horror Story) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory)

The official description of Hollywood reads:

HOLLYWOOD follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they try to make it in Tinseltown — no matter the cost. Each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood’s Golden Age, spotlighting the unfair systems and biases across race, gender and sexuality that continue to this day.

The official handle of the show took to Instagram to introduce their characters:

The trailer shows the old-school power dynamics between actors, filmmakers, writers and more. Simultaneously, it deals with how “coloured” and homosexual people were treated in the same era.

Murphy has worked with Parsons in the past for Netflix’s Boys in the Band. This web series will mark their second project together.

The series is all set to release on May 1, 2020. You can catch the trailer here:
